Intra-oral Video Exams
General & Cosmetic Dentistry in Kapolei, HI relies on video exams to better understand oral health, how to treat oral health problems and obtain accurate diagnoses. Our intra-oral video exams are performed with a diminutive camera that is held in the hand. The camera is around the size of a handheld dental mirror. There is a disposable sheath made of plastic attached that prevents contamination. The video exam takes snapshots of the teeth with magnification that is upwards of 25 as much as would otherwise be possible. These images are projected onto a screen for a clear view of the mouth. The images provide a look at all sorts of dental health problems ranging from broken fillings to missing fillings, worn teeth, tooth decay and deposits of plaque. This is the detailed look at the mouth that dentists need to determine the best treatment modality for your unique oral health challenges.
The clear look at the specific problematic sites within the mouth is also beneficial to the patient as it provides the pictures necessary to understand exactly what is occurring and how the dentist can best address it. In short, this is a real-world image of your current dental hygiene status that provides a close look at the gums and teeth to identify problems such as cavities and gum disease as soon as they begin.
